Keeping Shih Tzu Faces White

Author: Nosfer | Filed under: Dogs, Pets

Keeping Shih Tzu Faces WhiteIf you adore the parti color Shih Tzu with white on the face, topknot and tip to the tail or the solid white and lighter color Shih Tzu, chances are you will have problems keeping the white “white” and the lighter colors without stain.

Use this article and enjoy trying a method that “should” help you a great deal in keeping your lighter color Shih Tzu looking nice and clean.

Start the following routine at about age 4 or 5 months:

  • Mix two cups corn starch with one cup boric acid
  • Store the mixture in a container
  • Use this mixture on the facial hair or any place you want to become whiter and stain free twice a day after washing and drying the area
  • Apply the mixture using a toothbrush around the Shih Tzu eye area (be very careful in this area and don’t get any of the mixture into the eyes)
  • Apply the mixture using human cosmetic brushes to the rest of the face
  • Band the Shih Tzu’s face (which means put small groomer bands in sections of facial hair). You can also wrap if you wish.
  • Bath your Shih Tzu every three days
  • Fifteen minutes before bathing, wet the fact and put two tablespoons of #1 ALL SYSTEMS WHITE LIGHTENING on the facial hair. Work this in thoroughly. Be very careful not to get this in the eyes as it is not “tearless shampoo.”
  • Allow the #1 All Systems White Lightening to remain on the facial hair for 15 minutes. Now rinse very thoroughly.
  • Start bathing the entire Shih Tzu, washing the face last
  • Wash the Shih Tzu’s face with BIOGROOM or RING 5 WHITENING shampoo (these two brands are TEARLESS).
  • If you are certain you will not get the #1 ALL SYSTEMS PROFESSIONAL WHITENING SHAMPOO in the eyes, this is the better choice for washing the face at this time.
  • You can also use #1 ALL SYSTEMS WHITENING GEL once in a while to help keep the Shih Tzu white or lighter areas looking nice and clean.

After about one month or so the face and areas you treated should become VERY, VERY WHITE.

The procedure in this article has been reprinted upon permission of Cheryl Llamso of Fantastic Shih Tzu, Phillipines Shih Tzu Champion Show Dog Breeder. Thank you Cheryl for sharing your knowledge with all of us! Cheryl has produced many, many champions of Shih Tzu. Her Shih Tzu is treated much like her “babies and children.” She has a lot of experience with grooming the Shih Tzu, and it shows in the beautiful specimens she has produced.

I hope you find the results to be beneficial for your particular situations with the lighter coated Shih Tzu. The feet and around the anal area will be discolored as well as the facial hair. You can use this procedure on any area of the Shih Tzu that needs to be whiter, lighter or to remove stains of any kind.
