The Bearded Collie, also known as Beardy is originally a herding dog imported from Scotland. It is thought to have its early origins in Poland, and it has also been know as the Highland Collie. It was traded into Scotland in 1514 in exchange for sheep and various other valuable items. It now acts as a regular family companion, and frequently appears on dog shows as well. It has a very fluffy and soft fur-coat, partially covering its eyes, and it is medium-sized, with a height of about 20 to 22 inches and a weight of about 40 to 60 pounds.
