Cats And Collars

Most cats don’t like to wear collars. Cats always get annoyed when they have to wear collars and they will either stop moving or running. Most will try to sit or lie down. They get pretty bored. You can see this from the expression in their faces. There are many types of collars. Some collars are made out of fabric. Some are made out of plastic. Others of leather, metal and hybrid materials. We recommend that the collar should be light, slip proof, easily dried, none metallic, none slippery, and none allergic to the cat. Collars should not be made of thick materials. Neither should be it two wide.

A collar is needed when you want to prevent your cat from licking their wounds as this will aggravate the conditions of the wounds. The collar size has to be chosen very carefully. If the collar size is too wide, it can prevent your cats from eating and drinking properly. Read the rest of this entry »

Cat Body LanguageCat behavior is often misunderstood due to our inability to read their body language. Cats, just like us humans, use body language to communicate and broadcast information about their feelings and moods, desires, likes and dislikes. Understanding the meaning of various body signals will help to gain more insight into cat’s behavior, build a better relationship and even predict its behavior in the future.

Here are a few examples of cat body signals:

1. Face language

  • ears up and pointed forward: “I’m alert and ready for action”

The Indoor SiameseSiamese cats are wonderful people-loving cats. They are stubborn and demanding and it’s difficult to deny them anything. Some Siamese see the world outside and won’t take no for answer. They slip out between our legs as we walk in with groceries. They howl at the window. They stand by the door, watching us, waiting for an opportunity.

It’s tough not to give in, but by not giving in, your cat will live a longer and better life. Cars are only one danger to outdoor cats. Other dangers include strangers, and dogs. Other people can steal a cat. Knowingly or unknowingly, a neighbor might leave out a poison. Dogs can frighten a cat and disorient it. Dogs can attack. Read the rest of this entry »

GPS Cat Tracking CollarsCat GPS tracking collars seem like a great idea for keeping tabs on your wandering feline. Outfit a tracking collar with a global positioning device that knows its current location at all times. The GPS device can then periodically send its longitude and latitude position to some base station by simply transmitting it over the cellular phone network. Once received, the location information is uploaded to a website which allows you to monitor your cat’s location. Not only is this GPS tracking system a good idea, it’s already being used in a variety of ways — from car navigation systems to locating lost hikers.

However, the typical GPS cat tracking system is difficult to locate — at least in the United States. The main problem is that GPS technology has not been miniaturized to the point of making GPS cat collars small enough and light enough for most household cats. Domestic cats are simply unable to bear the weight of the current GPS electronics and power supply. Read the rest of this entry »
