The Cairn TerrierThe first time the Cairn terrier was presented publicly was in 1909. The breed did not really gain popularity until the 1930’s, even though it has been around since the 1500’s.They are one of the original terriers from Scotland, and have some influence on the Skye terrier, the West Highland White and the Scottish terriers. The name “Cairn” is the term used to describe grave markers or farmland borders made by marking them with a pile of stones. Bearded CollieThe Bearded Collie, also known as Beardy is originally a herding dog imported from Scotland. It is thought to have its early origins in Poland, and it has also been know as the Highland Collie. It was traded into Scotland in 1514 in exchange for sheep and various other valuable items. It now acts as a regular family companion, and frequently appears on dog shows as well. It has a very fluffy and soft fur-coat, partially covering its eyes, and it is medium-sized, with a height of about 20 to 22 inches and a weight of about 40 to 60 pounds.
