Breeding Golden Retrievers

Alaskan MalamuteThe Alaskan Malamute is a medium-large to large dog that weighs between 70-95 pounds and measures up to 25″. They are best known as sled dogs and are used to hard work. They ideal for cold climates or homes that will keep them cool and hydrated in hot summers. The Alaskan Malamute has a thick, coarse outer coat and wooly, dense undercoat. They are dressed for cold weather. If you own an Alaskan Malamute and live in a warmer climate, you need to make sure that they have a place to get out of the sun and plenty of water.

They come in a variety of colors including solid white, shadings of light to medium gray, black, sable, and red. In animals with shadings, parts of legs, feet, the underbody, and part of face markings are predominantly white. The AKC does not recognize any other solid colors than white. GPS Dog CollarKeeping track of your dog when it is off it leash can be nerve racking at best. One minute the dog is at your side and the next it is gone. You call but the dog does not return. Panic sets in and you rush about looking everywhere. If you are adjacent to large tracts of wild lands it may take you some time to locate your dog and in some case your best friend is never found. For many people this is like losing a child with all its grief and anguish. Hunting and large dog breeds must be allowed to run. Keeping them on a lead all the time is at best cruelty. New technology in the form of a GPS dog collar that tracks your dog may be the answer.

The Cairn TerrierThe first time the Cairn terrier was presented publicly was in 1909. The breed did not really gain popularity until the 1930’s, even though it has been around since the 1500’s.They are one of the original terriers from Scotland, and have some influence on the Skye terrier, the West Highland White and the Scottish terriers. The name “Cairn” is the term used to describe grave markers or farmland borders made by marking them with a pile of stones. Small rodents would build homes in the stone and they were used to chase them out. This dog is now bred for companionship.” Toto” of the “Wizard of Oz” is probably the most famous Cairn terrier.
